Project Description
As Indonesia continues to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy, hybrid power generation systems have become a strategic solution for improving energy reliability in remote and island regions. Supporting this transition, Syntek Energy & Control successfully delivered a SCADA and Energy Management System (EMS) solution for the revitalization of a solar power plant operated by PLN Indonesia Power Group Energy Operation (IGEO) in Pulau Gresik, Bangka Belitung.
Enabling Intelligent Hybrid Power Plant Operations
The project, managed by PT Surya Energi Indotama, involved the implementation of Syntek’s SCADA EMS platform and the integration of a revitalized solar power plant with the site’s existing diesel generator infrastructure. This integration enables seamless coordination between renewable and conventional energy sources, ensuring stable and efficient power generation.
At the core of the solution is the Energy Management System, which continuously monitors generation assets and load demand while optimizing the dispatch of available energy resources. By balancing solar power production and diesel generator operation in real time, the EMS helps maintain system stability while maximizing renewable energy utilization.
Maximizing Solar Energy Utilization and Operational Efficiency
The hybrid system allows solar-generated electricity to be utilized as the primary energy source whenever available, reducing the operational dependence on diesel generators. This approach significantly lowers fuel consumption and decreases operational expenditures while improving the overall efficiency of the power system.
For island-based power systems, where fuel transportation and logistics often contribute to higher operating costs, the ability to optimize renewable energy penetration provides substantial economic and environmental benefits.
Supporting Sustainable Energy Development in Indonesia
In addition to improving operational performance, the implementation of SCADA and EMS technology supports broader sustainability objectives by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting cleaner energy utilization. The project demonstrates how intelligent energy management solutions can accelerate the transition toward low-carbon power systems while maintaining reliability and operational flexibility.
As one of Indonesia’s trusted providers of Energy Management Systems and industrial automation solutions, Syntek Energy & Control remains committed to delivering innovative technologies that empower utilities, industries, and energy developers to build smarter, more resilient, and sustainable energy infrastructures.
