Project Description
Syntek Energy & Control contributed to the development of Remote Station systems for 20 kV switchgear integration across three substations in Batam: Tanjung Sengkuang Substation, Nongsa Substation, and Batu Besar Substation. The project supports the enhancement of monitoring and control capabilities within PT PLN Batam’s power distribution network.
Remote Station Implementation & SCADA Integration
As part of this project, Syntek supplied Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and carried out the installation, configuration, SCADA wiring integration, database configuration, testing, and commissioning processes.
The integration covers a total of 16 medium-voltage (20 kV) feeders across three substations, comprising 2 feeders at Tanjung Sengkuang, 8 feeders at Nongsa, and 6 feeders at Batu Besar. These installations connect field equipment to the existing SCADA infrastructure, enabling operational data to be transmitted to the centralized control system.
Enabling Real-Time Monitoring & Remote Operation
Through the integrated Remote Station system, operators at the Control Centre can monitor circuit breaker status, fault indications, and load conditions across the connected feeders.
The system also enables remote monitoring and operation of field equipment in real time, providing operators with faster access to network conditions and supporting more responsive handling of operational disturbances.
This capability helps improve operational efficiency by reducing reliance on manual field inspections and enabling more effective supervision of the distribution network.
Strengthening Power Distribution Automation
This project demonstrates Syntek Energy & Control’s capabilities in SCADA integration, RTU implementation, and electrical power automation. By connecting distributed 20 kV feeders to an existing centralized control system, Syntek supports improved network visibility, remote operational control, and more reliable power distribution infrastructure.
