Project Description
Syntek Energy & Control has successfully contributed to the development of an Energy Management System (EMS) designed to support hybrid microgrid operations at the PT Pamapersada Nusantara – Trubaindo Coal Mining Melak (TCMM) District site in West Kutai. Managed by PT Etrama Nusa Energi, this project marks a critical step forward in optimizing industrial energy infrastructure and supporting sustainable mining operations.
Enabling Seamless Operations and Energy Efficiency
For this initiative, Syntek deployed an advanced EMS to centrally control a 483.84 kWp Solar PV system, a 1,501 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and two 500 kVA diesel generators. The system intelligently orchestrates power distribution and automates the operational transition—shifting smoothly from PV and BESS during the day to the diesel generators at night. This ensures a seamless handover without any interruption to the power supply. Consequently, the integration maximizes solar energy utilization, significantly reduces diesel fuel consumption, and maintains the strict power reliability required for continuous heavy-duty mining operations.
Navigating Complex System Integration Challenges
A primary engineering challenge in this project was integrating the new hybrid system with existing diesel generators that were already equipped with their own independent load-sharing controllers. This condition required the EMS to adapt perfectly to the pre-existing control logic without modifying or disrupting the legacy operations. Leveraging Syntek’s highly adaptive and customizable EMS platform, the PV, BESS, and diesel generators were successfully unified into a single, coordinated microgrid, fully preserving the existing load-sharing functions and overall grid stability.
Delivering Advanced Industrial Microgrid Solutions
The success of this project further validates Syntek Energy & Control’s proven capability to deliver flexible Energy Management Systems that adapt to diverse and complex power generation configurations. By seamlessly bridging legacy systems with modern renewable assets, Syntek continues to solve intricate energy integration challenges, empowering the industrial sector to achieve greener, more resilient, and highly efficient operations.
